  • Here is where students can retrieve/get/read any announcements for the course. These are posted below in chronological order, i.e. most recent first!

  • This is a "hybrid" course, i.e. is conducted in a traditional classroom and over the "Internet"; and will utilize the Internet resources to enhance and to compliment what is done in the classroom within this course. Assignments, exams, and projects are submitted and completed using the computer as this is a "paperless" course!

  • Whether you have lots of experience and skills in "cyberspace", or are just starting, consideration will be given in ways which will both accommodate and nurture a wide array of talents & abilities.

  • All here will be afforded the full opportunity to work with this PageOut system and to acquire the MOST benefits from same....

  • As with any newer technology, there may be problems from time to time. Thus, some patience, due diligence, and thoughtful analysis will serve to improve the process.
  • Assigned Chapters are to be read and to be studied before each class with students coming to class prepared to discuss the assignments from an informed perspective!

    Each student MUST;
  • Complete the "Student Registration/SIGNUP" procedure for this course site.
  • Each student will have to choose a USER ID & Password [these both MUST be unique to the PageOut system].
  • This registration is MANDATORY to activate the communication function and to allow each student to access course materials, assignments, gradebook, etc..
  • To be able to complete the Student Registration/Sign-up procedure you will need a "registration password" that will be given to you at first (1st) class session--where ALL students will complete this registration procedure.

  • BUS 501: Final Examination --READ!    Posted: Aug 6, 2009
    BUS 501 Final Examination is linked under its session label in the Course Content section at the Pageout course site.

  • This exam will be available 0915-1130 for testing on 8 August, Saturday.
  • Mr. Feng, i.e. as exam proctor, will be there on 8 August to distribute the Proctor Password in class--HHH-107.
  • Plan to arrive on time by 0915 so that the exam may start at 0930--it is 100 questions (T&F and MC)over all assigned chapters in the course syllabus with a 100-minute time limit to complete and to submit this exam!

  • NO BOOKS, NO NOTES, NO SHARING OF EXAM CONTENTS, NO CELL PHONES NOR PDAs, NO TALKING!
  • ACADEMIC HONOR POLICY APPLIES HERE!
  • Exam must remain on FULL SCREEN while taking same!

    Be sure to keep track of elapsed time when taking this exam, i.e. should your digital clock that displays at the exam site be lost!

  • BUS 501: Term Project Presentations    Posted: Jul 21, 2009
    Term Project presentations are scheduled for Saturday, 25 July, between 0830 to 1230 in HHH-107.
  • Remember to dress properly and to bring a properly labeled CD with your slides and references on same.
  • Presentations will be digitally recorded and be podcast subsequently--with notice issued when available!
  • Order for presentation is decided on a first-come-first-served basis, i.e. by simply indicating # 1, 2, 3 after your term project topic---

    Practicing your presentation on a "timed basis" will improve and enhance effectiveness of same!

  • BUS 501 Bonus Points--READ!    Posted: May 30, 2009
    Bonus Points are awarded for correctly answering questions "designated" as Bonus Point questions.
  • In our recent class several students did this with the number of Bonus Points indicated for same, typically 5 points each, credited to their individual Bonus Points account in the Gradebook!. Congratulations!
  • As mentioned in class, each qualified student here should send me an e-mail indicating the number of Bonus Points earned, i.e. when a Bonus Points signup list/sheet is NOT distributed in any class session.
  • All here is done on the honor system and Bonus Points will be credited to individual student accounts (line item), i.e. Bonus Points, in the Gradebook.

    Most times a Bonus Points signup sheet will be distributed in class to address this matter.
  • If some students were inadvertently missed, kindly send an e-mail notice to: AssessIT@aol.com for proper credit.

    There will be four (4) Term Project Groups with two (2) students in each group in BUS 501 for Summer Term 2009!
  • Before next class organize yourselves into these four groups of two students.
  • Select an appropriate topic given instructions in the course syllabus.
  • In class on 15 May Topics will be assigned/designated and group memberships will be finalized!

    Term Project Instructions will be posted in the Discussion Area (DA) of the course site at PageOut!

    Course Description


    BUS 501: Provides the student with a comprehensive introduction to management principles, activities, and functions common to all managers. The student is also exposed to the kinds of demands and constraints faced by different managers and their choices in dealing with them through planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The course builds upon this knowledge base by applying it to the marketing function of the business enterprise.

  • [This course is waived if the student has completed the equivalent of both Principles of Management and Principles of Marketing.] Three (3) Graduate semester credits.(ucc 2-19-96)

    This course is conducted on a "seminar" basis which requires each student to STUDY and to PREPARE assignments PRIOR to EACH class meeting so that applications and analysis of such may be done within each class session.
